Kentucky Basketball will be giving its fans a new treat for the Wildcats’ home game against Tennessee on Feb. 7. The UK Basketball social media account revealed on Christmas morning that the Wildcats will wear alternate throwback uniforms for the game against rival Tennessee when the Volunteers roll into Rupp Arena during SEC play.

The white uniforms have ‘Kentucky’ in big font across the middle of the jersey with the number underneath. The white shorts have a large denim stripe on the sides that widens near the bottom, with an old-school UK basketball logo on the side. The uniforms were first worn by the Wildcats during the 1995-1996 season, according to Kentucky Sports Radio.

The Feb. 7 meeting in Rupp Arena will be the second matchup between the two border rivals during the SEC slate. The first game will take place in Knoxville on Jan. 17 at Noon, with the follow-up game happening less than a month later at 8:30 p.m. ET in Lexington. The Vols will see the ‘Cats twice in their first 10 SEC games.

Tennessee is ranked No. 19 with a 9-3 record to begin its season. The Vols have one more non-conference game against South Carolina State on Tuesday before starting SEC play at No. 18 Arkansas on Jan. 3 in Fayetteville. Kentucky, meanwhile, is currently unranked with a 9-4 record. The Wildcats have wrapped up their non-conference span and are waiting for the SEC opener at Alabama next Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

While Tennessee is ranked and Kentucky is not, the two rivals share close spots in ESPN’s latest power rankings from Jeff Borzello. The Volunteers land at No. 20 and the Wildcats come in at No. 22.
