Former Tennessee defensive back Jack Luttrell is heading back to the transfer portal. In an announcement revealed on social media on Friday morning, Luttrell announced his intentions to return to the portal after spending two seasons at Arizona. The Georgia native spent his true freshman season at Tennessee in 2023.
“After a lot of reflection, prayer, and honest evaluation, I’ve decided to enter my name into the NCAA transfer portal,” Luttrell said in a statement. “My time at Arizona played a major role in shaping me – on the field, in the weight room, and as a man. I’ve grown through the highs, learned through the setbacks, and built bonds that will last far beyond football. Every rep, meeting, and moment added something to my journey.”
Luttrell originally committed to Tennessee out of Colquitt County High School as a three-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was committed to Tennessee for more than 16 months before enrolling at UT, and took trips to Knoxville for multiple visits and even a 7-on-7 tournament that was held in Farragut.

Luttrell played in three games for the Volunteers during the 2023 season while earning a redshirt. He did not record any stats during that season.
After entering the portal in December 2023, Luttrell wound up at Arizona. He played in 12 games for the Wildcats during the 2024 season, racking up 39 total tackles, three interceptions, and one forced fumble. He also returned a pair of punts.
Luttrell appeared in just three games during the 2025 season, tallying three total tackles and one interception against Hawai’i in the season opener.
The transfer portal officially opened on Friday and the window will remain open until Jan. 16.
