The 2026 NCAA transfer portal is open for college football, and thousands of athletes have already entered. Tennessee football has lost 20 players to the portal so far, but is also looking to add plenty of talent for next season.
One of the names to keep an eye on is Miami (OH) edge rusher Adam Trick. According to a report from Hayes Fawcett, he is looking at the Vols, Texas Tech, Florida and Wisconsin. Trick plans to take a visit to each of these schools.
Trick is coming off his redshirt-junior season and will have one year of eligibility remaining. In 2025, he logged 59 tackles, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and an interception. His PFF grade also jumped off the page. He finished the year with an absurd 91.2 overall mark.
247 ranks Trick as a four-star transfer prospect. He is the No. 60 overall player in the portal and No. 10 edge rusher at this point.

Trick could play either Tennessee’s defensive end or LEO position if he did pick the Vols. No matter how the Vols look to use him, he’d fit a need for UT.
At defensive end, Tennessee is losing Dominic Bailey and Tyre West to eligibility. That leaves Tyree Weathersby and Mariyon Dye in the room.
At LEO, Joshua Josephs is out of eligibility and Caleb Herring, Kellen Lindstrom and Emmanuel Okoye are all transferring. That leaves just Jordan Ross.
The Vols have lost a total of 20 players to the portal as of 5 p.m. ET on Friday night. While Tennessee is yet to land any commitments, it’s projected to be attempting to reel in big fish on both sides of the ball and perhaps the biggest number of transfers yet under Josh Heupel.
