Ohio State cornerback transfer Aaron Scott is visiting Tennessee football next week, 247sports Allen Trieu first reported on Thursday night. Scott is currently visiting Wisconsin and is reportedly also trying to line up visits to both LSU and Oregon.

Scott is coming off his sophomore season with the Buckeyes where he had a limited role as a backup. The Springfield, Ohio native came off the bench in eight games and playing 106 total snaps over the course of the season.

Opponents targeted Scott six times and completed four passes for just 11 yards and one touchdown. He also added nine tackles and one pass breakup.

Tennessee is looking to add depth pieces at cornerback in the transfer portal. The Vols return rising sophomore Ty Redmond who earned Freshman All-SEC honors a season ago. Tennessee lost projected starting cornerback Rickey Gibson to the transfer portal, but replaced him with veteran Auburn starting cornerback Kayin Lee.

Lee was a key part of an Auburn defense that was one of the SEC’s best last season. Opponents targeted Lee 41 times, completing 21 passes for 251 yards and no touchdowns last season. In 2024, opponent targeted Lee 49 times and completed 23 passes for 318 yards and a touchdown.

Adding Lee was a coup for Tennessee’s defense but there’s still a lack of experience behind Redmond and the Auburn transfer. Tre Poteat played 69 snaps in his freshman season while Timothy Merritt played 45 snaps. No other returning corners played more snaps this season.

Tennessee also plans on hosting Oklahoma cornerback Gentry Williams on a visit as the Vols look to add more experienced bodies in the defensive backfield.

Tennessee football has landed five transfer portal commits to date including Lee, Kansas State defensive back Qua Moss, LSU offensive tackle Ory Williams, Penn State defensive tackle Xavier Gilliam and Louisville kicker Cooper Ranvier. All five could be starters for Tennessee next season.
