
Tennessee Basketball went into Athens on Wednesday night and came away with an 86-85 win over Georgia in overtime. The Vols put up 58 points in the final 25 minutes of the game to come away with their second straight road victory.
Tennessee had four double-digit scorers on Wednesday night with Ja’Kobi Gillespie leading the way at 21 points. The Vols also saw Nate Ament go for 19 points, J.P. Estrella go for 17 points, and Bishop Boswell end with a double-double at 13 points and 10 rebounds.
With Georgia shooting better than 50% from the floor in the game, Tennessee’s rebounding efforts ultimately kept it in the game and carried it to the finish line. The Vols out-rebounded the Bulldogs 52-27, with 26 defensive rebounds and 26 offensive rebounds. Tennessee scored 24 second-chance points compared to Georgia’s seven.
Tennessee’s win in Athens moved the Vols to 14-6 on the season and 4-3 in SEC play. It’s the first time this season that Tennessee has had back-to-back wins in conference action and did so with both games on the road. The Vols will return to Knoxville for a matchup with the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night in the Food City Center.
