There may be no bigger game-changer in the 2027 class than in-state, five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. Initially from Quebec, but now playing for Baylor School Chattanooga, Gabriel Georges’ highlight tape is as good as it gets.
On Friday, Rivals updated his recruitment status. The Vols are a strong contender, and he left a glowing review of the Tennessee program and its trajectory, according to the report.
“I feel like Tennessee is building and bringing in top players that will make an immediate impact,” Gabriel Georges told Rivals.

Gabriel Georges is ranked as a five-star recruit, according to 247 Composite. He is the No. 13 player in the class, No. 2 running back and No. 1 player out of the Volunteer State, as well. He has made it to campus numerous times to see the Vols as he narrows down his list.
In late December, he shaved his list down to eight schools. This included UT, alongside Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Texas.
Tennessee already holds four commitments in the 2027 class. This includes four-star tackle Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star linebacker JP Peace and three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. The class is still young, though, and plenty more commitments are expected to trickle in over the next year.
Tennessee is coming off an extremely strong 2026 class, as well. The Vols landed 29 commitments in the class, with 27 signed in the early signing period and two local prospects committing last week. This was headlined by a trio of five-star prospects, quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver TK Keys and offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda. The group ranks fifth in the country on 247.
However, the Vols did not land any running backs in the 2026 class. It’s still a young room with the addition of rising sophomore Javin Gordon and the return of second-year backs Daune Morris and Justin Baker, but Tennessee will look to add a freshman this cycle.
