No. 25 Tennessee picked up an 84-66 win over Ole Miss on Tuesday night in Knoxville, marking the Vols’ fourth straight win in SEC play with victories over Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, and now Ole Miss. Tennessee scored just 26 points in the first half and only led by one going into the halftime break. The Vol then broke out of their shell and scored 58 points in the final 20 minutes to earn a blowout victory over the Rebels.
The main reason for Tennessee’s second-half explosion was the hot shooting of Nate Ament. The freshman wing scored just two points in the first half as he struggled to find his rhythm. After figuring out the Rebels’ defense and staying patient, Ament scored 26 points in the second half on 8-of-10 shooting. Ament was completely dialed in as he did what he wanted with the ball and found success from each section of the court.
Drama found its way into the game as Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard was ejected from the contest after receiving two technical fouls while arguing a no-call with the referees. The ejection didn’t spark a run from the Rebels as the Vols cruised to victory on Tuesday night in Knoxville.
Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and Ole Miss head coach Chris Beard spoke to the media after the game to share their thoughts on the contest. The Vols also had Nate Ament and JP Estrella (12 points) answer questions during the postgame as well.
