After coaches across the country flocked to Coatesville, Pennsylvania, to check in on five-star interior offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, he has shaved the contenders down to just four schools.
According to a report from Hayes Fawcett, Hiller is now just considering Tennessee football, Alabama, Florida and Ohio State. This comes after Vols head coach Josh Heupel, offensive coordinator Joey Halzle and offensive line coach Glen Elarbee all took a trip to see him in late January.
He has also set up three official visits, according to Fawcett. He’ll be in Knoxville to see UT from June 12-14. That’s sandwiched between trips to Alabama and Florida, with a trip to Ohio State to be decided.
Hiller is considered the No. 4 recruit in the 2027 class by 247. The site also considers him the top-ranked interior offensive lineman and player from Pennsylvania.

More From RTI: Tennessee Football Makes Top-Nine for Four-Star Interior Offensive Line Recruit
247 lists Hiller at 6-foot-5, 300 pounds. He was named to the Polynesian Bowl roster, as well, which hosts some of the top recruits across the country.
Last month, Hiller was also visited by coaches from Florida, Georgia, Clemson, Oregon, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina. However, it’s just the Vols, Crimson Tide, Gators and Buckeyes that made enough of an impact to stay in the running.
“Elite offensive line prospect who could probably go pro as an interior defensive lineman as well,” 247 analyst Gabe Brooks wrote. “Big-framed but finds leverage consistently. Initiates POA engagement as if working the one-man sled. Pancake machine. Displays impressive sudden agility that shines on both sides of the ball. May ultimately wind up an elite guard, but don’t be surprised by a tackle role, at least in college, if not beyond…”
Tennessee already holds four commitments in the 2027 class. This includes four-star tackle Princeton Uwaifo, four-star defensive lineman Kadin Fife, three-star linebacker JP Peace and three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield. The class is still young, though, and plenty more commitments are expected to trickle in over the next year.
