Tennessee baseball is coming off its first bit of adversity of the 2026 season, dropping two of three games in its weekend series against Kent State at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. It marked the Vols’ first non conference series loss since dropping two out of three games against Wright State in 2020.
The Vols won the series opener when Tyler Myatt hit a ninth inning walk-off home run. But Tennessee struggled in the ensuing two games, dropping game two, 2-1, and game three, 9-5. Tennessee’s offense struggled badly, hitting just four-for-42 (.095) with runners on base and three-for-22 (.136) with runners in scoring position.
There were some positives from the bad weekend. Starting pitchers Tegan Kuhns and Landon Mack both turned in solid starts while Brandon Arvidson shined in his first appearance of the 2026 season.
The Vols dropped in the rankings following a bad week but remain in the top 25 in all the major rankings. Here’s where Tennessee landed.
