Where Tennessee Baseball Lands In Various Rankings Following Successful Week In Texas

Tennessee baseball fared well in its first weekend playing power five competition with the Vols posting a 2-1 record at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington.

Josh Elander’s first Tennessee team dropped its first game of the tournament 12-5 against No. 1 UCLA. The Vols followed it up with a 5-3 victory over Arizona State and a 3-1 victory over Virginia Tech. It was a needed bounce back for a Tennessee team that had lost three of its previous four games.

Tennessee played clean defense and got strong pitching in the two victories. Out of the bullpen, Mark Hindy, Brady Frederick, Brayden Krenzel and Cameron Appenzeller all turned in strong outings following productive starts from Landon Mack and Evan Blanco.

The Vols’ offense remained shaky in the two wins. However, Blaine Brown and Henry Ford each had a pair of RBI singles while Chris Newstrom and Levi Clark both hit RBI doubles.

Tennessee now boasts an 8-3 record with a six-game home stand remaining before the start of SEC play. This week, the Vols have midweek matchups against ETSU and Oakland before facing off against Wright State ina. three-game series.
