Tennessee basketball had its back against the wall in the second-round of the SEC Tournament. The Vols didn’t go down without throwing a haymaker, though. The result was a connected blow, a 20-0 run, that catapulted UT in front of Auburn and sent it to the quarterfinals.
Now, just eight teams remain. Tennessee will match up with in-state rival Vanderbilt for the third time this season and the second time in a week. The Vols have the advantage of having a game under their belt, while the Commodores have the extra day of rest.
Heading into the round, Tennessee has the fourth-best odds to win the tournament. This tops Vanderbilt, as well, despite the Commodores having the higher seed.
Here is the full list of odds to win the SEC Tournament for the eight remaining teams, according to FanDuel:
- 1-seed Florida: -145
- 3-seed Arkansas: +450
- 2-seed Alabama: +500
- 5-seed Tennessee: +1200
- 4-seed Vanderbilt: +1400
- 9-seed Kentucky: +2500
- 11-seed Oklahoma: +6500
- 15-seed Ole Miss: +15000
More From RTI: What Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Nate Ament Said to Preview Tennessee Basketball’s Rematch with Vanderbilt
Despite having better odds to win the tournament, Tennessee is underdogs in the matchup with Vanderbilt. It’s narrow, though, with the Vols sitting at just 1.5-point underdogs. So far, 62% of the money and 55% of bets on the spread have come in on Tennessee on FanDuel.
“Yeah, I mean, I feel like we’ve shown ourselves we can do it for one game,” Tennessee point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie said ahead of the game. “We have to show ourselves that we can stack games together and treat this game — Vandy, they beat us at home. We got to come out and play with some urgency.”
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN. The winner will get the winner between 9-seed Kentucky and 1-seed Florida in the semifinals on Saturday.
