Former Tennessee football national champion quarterback Tee Martin is returning to the SEC coaching ranks. On Wednesday, Jordan Schultz reported that Martin is being hired by Lane Kiffin at LSU as an offensive analyst.

This is Martin’s second stint coaching alongside Kiffin. He was also hired by him at USC in 2012 as the Trojans’ wide receivers coach.

Martin joining Kiffin’s staff at LSU also means he will be returning to Neyland Stadium next season. The Vols will host the Tigers on Nov. 21, 2026. This is the second-to-last game of the year and the final home game for Tennessee.

Martin played at Tennessee from 1996-99. After sitting behind Peyton Manning, he took over in 1998 and led the program to a BCS National Championship win over Florida State. After his college career, he went in the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft to the Steelers. He hung up his cleats after the 2005 season to begin his coaching career.

Martin’s first job was as the passing game coordinator at Morehouse in 2006. He spent two seasons coaching at the high school level before joining New Mexico as the quarterbacks coach in 2009. He then got his first chance in the SEC with Kentucky in 2010 as a wide receivers coach and then passing game coordinator.

It was from there that Kiffin hired Martin at USC. After Kiffin’s firing in 2013, Martin remained on staff until 2018, including time as the offensive coordinator. He then returned to his alma mater, Tennessee, from 2019-20 under Jeremy Pruitt as an assistant to the head coach and wide receivers coach.

Since 2021, he has been on the Ravens’ staff in the NFL as a wide receiver coach, then a quarterback coach.

This is Kiffin’s first year at LSU after taking the job following a successful stint at Ole Miss. Kiffin also coached at Tennessee for one season, 2009, before leaving in the night for USC.
