Lady Vols basketball is losing another highly-ranked freshman to the transfer portal. Former five-star recruit Jaida Civil announced her intention to enter the portal on her Instagram on Monday.
Civil was one of the top pieces to sign to Tennessee in the extremely successful 2025 class. She was ranked as the No. 13 player in the nation and No. 1 small forward by 247 and was named a McDonald’s All-American.
Out of Vero Beach, Florida, Civil’s skillset translated quickly to the college level. She posted 6.4 points per game on 41.5% shooting from the field and 28.8% from three. In 30 appearances and 10 starts, she also notched 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Civil’s finest game came on the road at Oklahoma. She dropped 21 points and 10 rebounds, both marking career-highs, her 32 minutes on the floor.

This season, Tennessee finished 16-14 (8-8 SEC). The Lady Vols were the 6-seed in the SEC Tournament, but lost to Alabama in the second round. They earned a 10-seed in the NCAA Tournament, but lost to NC State in the Round of 64 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
This featured an eight-game losing streak and defeats in 11 of their last 13 games to round out the year.
Civil is the final potential Tennessee returner to announce their intention to enter the portal, joining Talaysia Cooper, Kaniya Boyd, Alyssa Latham, Lauren Hurst, Deniya Prawl and Mia and Mya Pauldo. That means that all five freshmen signees from UT’s No. 2-ranked class a year ago are departing from the program.
