Tennessee Football’s 2027 recruiting class received a major boost with a commitment from blue-chip wide receiver Kesean Bowman on Saturday afternoon. Bowman is widely considered one of the top prospects from the state of Tennessee and a future star player at his position.
According to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Bowman is listed as a four-star prospect. He’s also ranked as the No. 41 player in the country, the No. 7 receiver in the class, and the No. 2 player from the Volunteer State. Bowman continues a massive recruiting run for receivers coach Kelsey Pope, who has landed blue-chip prospects such as Mike Matthews, Braylon Staley, Travis Smith Jr., Radarious Jackson, TK Keys, and Tyreek King over the last few years.
Andrew Ivins tags the pro comparison for the 6-foot-1 Bowman as former Tennessee receiver Josh Palmer.
“Wiry outside receiver with the length, speed and coordination to be a consistent winner on the perimeter in college,” Ivins wrote about Bowman in a March evaluation. “Tracking to be a three-year producer for one of Tennessee’s top prep programs and has been a regular top performer on the offseason camp circuit.
Bowman currently plays for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, TN. He originally committed to Oregon in July 2025, but de-committed from Dan Lanning’s program just a few months later in September. The day after decommitting from the Ducks, Bowman was in Knoxville for the Vols’ home game against UAB. In fact, Bowman originally announced his decommitment just six days after visiting Tennessee for the Georgia game.
