Tennessee baseball (18-10, 3-6 SEC) is set to host the Austin Peay Governors (14-14, 5-4 ASUN) Tuesday in a midweek contest in Knoxville.
First pitch in Lindsey Nelson Stadium is at 6:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network +.
Tennessee enters the midweek contest coming off a disastrous three-loss weekend in Nashville, as Vanderbilt swept the Vols.
All three losses were via walk-off, as Tennessee lost Friday’s game, 3-2, after a 10th-inning walk-off hit. Saturday, Tennessee lost the longest game in program history, getting walked off 6-5 in 16 innings. Sunday, Tennessee led 15-10 going into the bottom of the ninth but allowed six runs as Vandy’s Tommy Goodin hit a walk-off grand slam.
Read recaps from all three games below.

GAME TWO RECAP: Tennessee Baseball Suffers Walk-Off Loss to Vanderbilt in 16 Innings to Lose Series
GAME THREE RECAP: Tennessee Baseball Walked Off In Third Straight Game to Get Swept by Vanderbilt
The heartbreaking series puts a lot of pressure on Tennessee to respond well, as the Vols are at the lowest point they’ve been yet this year.
But there’s plenty of time to right the ship. Tennessee has five straight home hames coming up, including a series against flawed LSU.

The Governors had a great 2025, posting a program-best 45-win season. But Austin Peay was unable to win the ASUN Tournament and therefore missed the NCAA Tournament.
Now in 2026, Austin Peay is off to a shakier start. It SHOULD be a relatively stress-free win for UT if they show up, but anything is possible with this year’s offense.

- Perfect Game: Unranked (Last week: 21)
- USA Today Coaches Poll: Unranked (Last ranked: 21)
- NCBWA: Unranked (Last week: 23)
Prediction: Tennessee wins by 5-7 runs
Curious to see how Tennessee bounces back after such a devastating series in Nashville getting swept by Vanderbilt.
Austin Peay has talent, and with the way Tennessee’s offense has performed, anything is possible. But I’m banking on Tennessee’s offense following up a great effort Sunday with a productive midweek performance.
Injury/Availability Notes
- Garrett Wright back being able to catch after hamate surgery before the season.
- Stone Lawless won’t be available for a TBD amount of time. He took an 89 mph pitch to the face Sunday. Expect a more definitive update after Tuesday’s game.
- VolQuest’s Eric Cain reported freshman INF Evan Hankins is OUT for the season with a knee injury.
