The transfer portal window doesn’t open up until Tuesday morning, but Tennessee Basketball has already made an offensive-minded addition to its 2026-2027 roster. Last Thursday, Tennessee officially announced the signing of Belmont sharpshooting guard Tyler Lundblade, who will be entering his sixth and final season next year with the Vols.

Lundblade’s status as a graduate transfer allows him to sign with a new program prior to the portal window opening, giving the Vols a head start on their roster building for the next season.

The 6-foot-5 senior from Dallas, TX, is coming off a tremendous offensive year with the Bruins. He played and started in all 32 games for Belmont last season, averaging 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Lundblade shot the ball at 43% from the field and 40.6% from three-point range. He was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year for his efforts on the court.

“There is no doubt Tyler is one of the very best shooters at the college level and he proved that in one of the nation’s premier conferences,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said in a statement on Thursday. “He can score in a variety of ways, whether that is a catch-and-shoot, dribble-handoff or off-the-dribble situation. Tyler has consistently been a part of winning teams and he brings a great deal of experience, as well as a tireless work ethic, with him to Rocky Top.”

For Tennessee fans who grew frustrated with the Vols’ free-throw shooting issues at times last season, Lundblade should be a welcome sight. He is a career 93.3% free-throw shooter and went 93.4% and 94.4% from the line over his last two seasons, which were based on 145 total attempts.
