It was a rough season for Lady Vols basketball in the 2025-26 campaign. After the Round of 64 loss to NC State, each potential returner has decided to enter the transfer portal and look elsewhere for the remainder of their career.
Now, Tennessee head coach Kim Caldwell and her staff are looking to piece together an entirely new roster for her third season.
“I can’t put it on roster construction,” Caldwell said after the final loss. “I got to put it on me, right? I have always been able to recruit players and stack talent and get them to run through a wall for me and get them to play hard and I wasn’t able to do that. One thing I can put my finger on is that I bailed on what we want to do first and then how can I blame anyone else from doing it? You cannot do that, and I know that.”
So far, Caldwell has landed three players through the transfer portal this cycle. This includes a pair of guards and a forward.

Hopefully the players she gets and rhe coaching staff will support her efforts. Several alum players stated that they liked that style of play when she first arrived. GBO!!! VFL
I also like the players that Coach Barnes has gotten so far.
