Former Tennessee basketball starting guard Bishop Boswell is currently on a visit at NC State, according to a report from 247’s Cory Smith. Boswell has two years of eligibility remaining at wherever his next stop is.
The fit at NC State makes a lot of sense, if that’s where he ultimately decides to go. Most obviously, Justin Gainey, former UT associate head coach under Rick Barnes, just took over the program as head coach. This gives instant familiarity on and off the court for Boswell.
The other big reason is the proximity to home. Boswell is from Charlotte, North Carolina, where he starred for Meyers Park in high school. While it’d still be a two and a half hour drive from home, it would return him to his home state.

Boswell averaged 6.2 points over the course of the 2025-26 season on 42.7% shooting from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. The combo guard was a do-it-all guard for Tennessee, averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game, as well.
“First I want to thank God for giving me this wonderful life,” Boswell wrote when entering the portal. “This journey has been nothing short of amazing. The people I’ve met, the family I’ve gained, and the experiences have been unforgettable. Being able to spend these last two years as a Tennessee Volunteer is something I’ll cherish forever.
“I would like to thank Coach Barnes and his staff for giving me a chance to chase my dream and play the game I love in a Tennessee uniform.”
Boswell is one of six outgoing transfers from UT’s Elite Eight squad. The only to commit to their next school at this point is forward JP Estrella, who is headed to Michigan in its national title defense year. The Vols have landed three transfers of their own, adding Belmont’s Tyler Lundblade, Cal’s Dai Dai Ames and Loyola (Chicago)’s Miles Rubin.
