Lady Vols Basketball Reportedly Hosting Experienced Guard Transfer on Visit

Lady Vols basketball is hosting a transfer guard with plenty of experience. On Wednesday, Tyi Skinner will be in Knoxville, according to a report from Dushawn London. She will also visit Alabama, London reported.

Skinner most recently played at SMU. However, she was only available to play in eight games, starting in seven, before suffering a season-ending injury. Before going down, she was averaging 13.6 points per game on 35.3% shooting from the field and 30.4% on threes. She also added 3.6 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

This was her first year at SMU. Prior to that, she was at Arizona State for three seasons. In the 2024-25 year, she averaged 16.8 points on 39.6% shooting from the field and 38.1% on threes. This landed her as an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. However, the year before that, she missed the entire season due to injury.

Her first year with the Sun Devils, the 2022-23 season, she averaged a career-high 19.3 points per game on 36.1% shooting from the field and 34.7% from range. She was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention for the year.

Before her time at Arizona State, Skinner played a pair at Delaware. She stands at 5-foot-5 and would project to play point guard with UT. She is from Washington, D.C., and played for TPLS Christian Academy.

The Lady Vols currently hold five commitments in the portal class. This includes Liberty’s Avery Mills, Northern Arizona’s Naomi White, Stanford’s Harper Peterson and Georgia’s Zhen Craft and Rylie Theuerkauf.

This comes after Tennessee lost all eight potential returners to the transfer portal. Five-star freshman Oliviyah Edwards was also released from her signing, per her request. The lone incoming freshman is four-star guard Gabby Minus out of Georgia.

While building the roster from the ground up, there’s still plenty more commitments expected to roll in.
