Tennessee basketball has added another difference maker to its 2026-27 roster through the transfer portal. Rick Barnes and company have landed VCU point guard Terrence Hill Jr. after an extremely successful sophomore year with the Rams.
On the season, Hill posted 15.0 points per game on 46.6% shooting from the field and 37% from three. The 6-foot-3 guard also added 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game in 36 appearances and two starts.
Now, Hill joins an already stacked transfer portal class for the Vols. So far, Tennessee has landed Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade, Cal guard Dai Dai Ames, Loyola (Chicago) forward Miles Rubin and Notre Dame wing Jalen Haralson, as well.
This, mixed with the return of guard Troy Henderson and forward Dewayne Brown II and a quartet of highly-touted incoming freshmen, reloads the roster for Barnes. He is coming off a third-straight Elite Eight appearance, but is still looking to lead Tennessee to the program’s first-ever Final Four.
In the attempt to make history, Hill joins with immediate upside as a tough shot maker all over the floor. It was the play of UT point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie a year ago in the NCAA Tournament that he admitted initially drew him to Tennessee, as well.
“It stands out a lot,” Hill told RTI. “I was actually watching the March Madness game where he (Gillespie) was shooting anything he wanted. I was like, ‘s***, he (Rick Barnes) let his point guard go.’ So I like that. And me and my agent were watching it like, ‘Tennessee might be a good spot for me.’”
Hill now joins with two years of eligibility remaining after opening his career with a pair of seasons at VCU.
