One of Tennessee football’s recruiting targets at safety is set to come off the board on Saturday afternoon. Three-star defensive back Keiran Govan will announce his choice at halftime of an OT7 game set to begin at 1:50 p.m. ET.
The choices for Govan are down to the Vols, Iowa State, Louisville, Kansas State and Missouri. There have been no public official predictions logged for his pick, but Missouri leads the way, according to On3‘s prediction model.
Govan ranks as a three-star prospect across the board. 247 Composite lists him as the No. 432 recruit in the 2027 class. He is the No. 38 safety and No. 8 recruit from the state of Missouri, as well. He plays for Republic High School in Republic, Missouri.

Govan’s primary recruiter at UT is seemingly William Inge, the linebackers coach. Tennessee brought in a new defensive coordinator, Jim Knowles, and safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator, Anthony Poindexter, this offseason, though. If he does pick Tennessee, he’d be working closely with Poindexter instead.
Currently, Tennessee holds six commitments in the 2027 class. This features a trio of highly-touted four-stars. Headlining is in-state wide receiver, Kesean Bowman. He is a top-50 prospect and one of the top pass catchers in the class. In-state offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife are also highly ranked.
Three-stars in the class are quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler and in-state legacy linebacker JP Peace. Currently, this group is ranked inside the top-15 on both 247 and Rivals for the young 2027 cycle. More commitments are expected to roll in, as well.
