On Monday night, Lady Vols basketball landed the commitment of Kennedy Fauntleroy out of East Carolina. This now makes 14 players rostered for the upcoming season and one spot remaining to be filled.

What is Tennessee getting in Fauntleroy, though? First of all, she was just named the American Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year. She was consistently in passing lanes and pick-pocketing ball handlers to get going in transition. This is obviously going to be an extremely natural fit in Kim Caldwell’s system.

She has the ability to impact games offensively, as well. A First-Team All-Conference member and American Conference Newcomer of the Year, the 5-foot-7 guard showed off the ability to score in multiple ways. Her efficiency will need to rise, but with less of an emphasis on creating her own shot, she could see her shots from range start to fall with more consistency.

On the year, Fauntleroy averaged 13.7 points per game on 39.3% shooting from the field and 30.8% on threes. She also posted 4.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game.

She began her career at Georgetown, where she was unanimously named the 2023 Big East Freshman of the Year. She then transferred to Oklahoma State, where she played in just five games and earned a redshirt. That led her to Arizona State the following year, where she played in 22 games with 12 starts.
