Tennessee baseball capped off its regular season with its second straight series victory. The Vols completed an undefeated midweek season with a victory over Belmont before taking two of three games over Oklahoma.
The Vols offense was fantastic in the three-game series, scoring nine runs in all three games. It was a complete performance for Tennessee at the plate with five Vols totaling three-plus hits and six players totaling at least one extra-base hit.
Henry Ford and Levi Clark each hit two home runs while Reese Chapman totaled two doubles and another triple while Manny Marin hit a double and a triple.
On the mound, Tennessee pieced things together. Neither Tegan Kuhns and Evan Blanco had their best stuff but still worked deep into the game and exited their outing with the Vols leading. But with Landon Mack missing another start, Tennessee’s pitching staff struggled to piece things together in a game three loss.
Tennessee enters this week’s SEC Tournament with a 36-19 (15-15 SEC) record landing as the 10-seed. The Vols played poorly in their first four SEC series, leaving a series loss against LSU with a 4-8 SEC record. But starting with a series sweep at Mississippi State, the Vols posted an 11-7 SEC record in their final six series.
The Vols earned a 10-seed in the conference tournament and will face 15-seed South Carolina in their opening game on Tuesday afternoon. If Tennessee beats the Gamecocks then they’ll face off against seven-seed Arkansas.
