A Tennessee football recruiting target is set to come off the board next week. Four-star offensive tackle Dominic Black announced that he’ll make his decision public on June 10, with the Vols in the mix.

Tennessee is competing with Michigan State, Kentucky, Indiana and Virginia Tech for his pledge. This narrowing in to five schools cut West Virginia, NC State and North Carolina out of contention from his previous top eight named at the end of April.

Black ranks as the No. 126 player in the 2027 class, via 247. He is the No. 18 offensive tackle and No. 5 player from the state of Ohio. Standing at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, he is from New Madison, Ohio, and plays for Tri-Village High School.

“Potentially position-versatile offensive lineman with excellent multi-sport context,” 247 scouting analyst Gabe Brooks wrote.
“Combines impressive shot put prowess with uncommon functional athleticism, body control, and skill on the basketball court relative to size/body type. Plays with a convicted field demeanor. Still developing strength but consistently finishes blocks…”

Currently, Tennessee’s class of 2027 commitment list ranks just outside the top-30 on both 247 and Rivals. However, the Vols have laid a strong foundation to build on and are in good standing with a number of highly-rated recruits.

The group of nine commits features a trio of highly-touted four-stars. Headlining is in-state wide receiver, Kesean Bowman. He is a top-50 prospect and one of the top pass catchers in the class. In-state offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife are also highly ranked.

Three-stars in the class are quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, in-state legacy linebacker JP Peace, defensive back Carter Jamison and defensive back Slim Leavell. UT also added the No. 2-ranked long snapper in the cycle, Sam McKeown.
