
A standout local receiver is going to play his college football for one of Tennessee’s biggest rivals. Alcoa receiver Jamir Dean flipped his commitment from Penn State to Georgia football on Monday after taking visits to both Happy Valley and Athens over the past two weeks.

Dean ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 257 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver also ranks as the No. 36 receiver and No. 12 player in the state of Tennessee in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
The East Tennessee native originally committed to Penn State back in early May following an unofficial visit before flipping his commitment six weeks later.

A standout at Alcoa High School, Dean helped lead the Tornadoes to a 14-1 record and a TSAA 4A State Championship while playing on both sides of the football in his junior season.
Dean is Georgia’s 15th commit in the 2027 recruiting cycle abut just the second receiver committed. He’s now the seventh highest rated player in Georgia’s recruiting class. The Bulldogs’ 15-commit 2027 recruiting class currently ranks No. 14 nationally and No. 5 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
Tennessee football also has 15 players committed in its 2027 recruiting class including from one receiver— four-star midstate native Keasan Bowman. The Vols’ four highest rated commits in the 2027 cycle are all from the Volunteer state.
The Vols’ 15-commit 2027 recruiting class currently ranks No. 38 nationally and No. 10 in the SEC according to the 247sports team rankings.
