The opponents and game locations are set for Tennessee basketball’s 2027 schedule, Jon Rothstein first reported and a source confirmed to RTI on Tuesday.

The SEC scheduling format sees each each play three opponents twice and play the other 12 teams in the conference once with six of the games at home and six of the games on the road to make up an 18-game conference schedule.

Tennessee will play rivals Kentucky and Vanderbilt twice, as they do every season, as well as Missouri. That sets up two meetings with former Vol Jaylen Carey who transferred to Missouri earlier this offseason.

Rick Barnes’ 12th Tennessee team will go on the road to face Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M. The Vols will host Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State and South Carolina at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.

It’s an overall solid draw for Tennessee. The projected top teams in the SEC include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Vanderbilt and Texas. While Tennessee will play Vanderbilt twice, the only other true road game is the trip to Austin.

Tennessee has yet to announce its complete non conference schedule for next season but most of the bigger games are already set. The Vols will host Michigan State and Florida State in Knoxville, they will play a true road game against Purdue and a neutral site game against NC State in Nashville.

Tennessee will also play three or four games in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. The Vols will face Maryland in their first game and then either Iowa State or San Diego State in their second game in the event. Potential opponents for the third game include St. John’s, Oregon, Louisville and Texas Tech.

Expectations are high for Barnes’ 12th Tennessee team. The Vols over went a major roster overhaul this offseason but brought in one of the nation’s very best transfer hauls including highly sought after transfers Juke Harris, Jalen Haralson, Terrence Hill Jr, Tyler Lundblade and others.

The SEC will release the complete conference schedules with dates and times for games later this summer. Here’s another look at Tennessee’s SEC opponents for this upcoming season.
