The NBA Draft is in the rearview and the NBA Summer League begins this weekend with the California Classic and the Salt Lake City Classic before summer league takes main stage Las Vegas beginning on July 9.

Three former Tennessee basketball players will be teaming up this summer beginning this weekend in California. Ja’Kobi Gillespie, Zakai Zeigler and Igor Milicic are all on the San Antonio Spurs roster for the California Classic.

San Antonio drafted Gillespie with the 42nd pick of the NBA Draft last week following its run to the NBA Finals this past season. Gillespie spent just one season at Tennessee and did not play with Zeigler or Milicic. However, Gillespie committed to Tennessee early in the transfer portal cycle and did workout with Gillespie while he trained for the draft.

While he was at Tennessee for just one season, Gillespie made the most of his time as a Vol. He averaged 18.4 points, 5.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds on his way to earning All-SEC honors and leading Tennessee back to the Elite Eight for a third straight season.
