Tennessee will wrap up its week of uniform releases on Thursday, leading to the much-anticipated merchandise drop online and in stores on Friday.

And judging by a quick memory of walking around the concourse at Neyland Stadium during a football Saturday, the Vols’ new jerseys are going to be one of the top sellers early on. Fan reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly positive with the new orange and white jerseys, and the Dark Modes still haven’t even been revealed yet.

But whenever a fan is buying a new jersey, there can be some trepidation. You’re spending more than $100 after all, and you want some good quality and bang for your buck. Fortunately, it seems like Tennessee fans are going to be in luck.

Barstool Sports personality Connor Griffin recently reviewed his new Nittany Lions Adidas jersey on social media this week. Penn State was also a team that made the switch from Nike to Adidas this month, so the two fanbases are in the same boat when it comes to the new merchandise.

Griffin’s review may ease any concerns that are out there for Tennessee fans wanting to pick up the new threads this weekend.

“Yeah, that’s nice,” Griffin said while unboxing and trying on the jersey. “It’s overall much lighter, feels more breathable. Fits pretty much the same, except I’d say maybe the sleeves are a little bit shorter than the Nike jersey. But I love this so far. The biggest thing that jumps off the page immediately is the fact that we’re going back to stitched jersey numbers. These are not ironed on, like pretty much everything with Nike was. We’re going back to the good old days. The Adidas logo is not ironed on. The Big Ten logo is not ironed on.”

Griffin compared the Adidas jersey to a Nike jersey from last season, noting Adidas’ better fabric, better design, and stitched numbers compared to iron-on numbers. He then gave his final thoughts on his purchase.

“Now, guys, you might have to pay a little bit more for these jerseys,” Griffin said. “I got this for $130, which is definitely more expensive than what Nike was selling their jerseys for. And you’ll always have people who say Adidas is way less cooler than the swoosh, why would Penn State ever go away from Nike? Blah blah blah. All I know is this is a massive upgrade in quality compared to the Nike jerseys.”

Now, all of this is written with the caveat that we haven’t seen the exact jerseys that Tennessee and Adidas will be selling. We don’t have a perfect idea of what things will look like or feel like. But it’s hard to believe that the Vols won’t get the same thing that Penn State has, with the upgraded quality and stitched jerseys.

And while fans will have the chance to see and test for themselves in a few days, this definitely sounds like a win for any Tennessee jersey-buyers heading into the fall.
