The 2026 MLB Draft came to a close on Sunday night with 613 selections made over two days and 20 rounds. Six current Tennessee baseball players were selected including Tegan Kuhns, Bo Rhudy, Henry Ford, Garrett Wright, Brandon Arvidson and Evan Blanco.
MLB teams selected four Tennessee high school signees including Jared Grindlinger and Trevor Condon in the first round of the draft. So what’s next for players selected in the draft?
They will now negotiate contracts with the teams that selected them. Each team has a certain amount of money they can spend signing the players they drafted. The Chicago White Sox, who had the first pick in the draft, has a pool of $20.5 million it can spend to sign its selections. The Los Angeles Dodgers have just a $3.95 million draft pool after winning the World Series.
Teams can use more money than its allotted pool but the MLB taxes them heavily if they exceed their limit.
Each pick in the first 10 rounds of the draft has a “pick value” with the MLB deciding the general worth of a player selected in each slot. Teams do not have to sign a player with the specific “pick value” but it does give us a general feel for how much any given player will sign for.
What are the pick values for the six Tennessee players and four Tennessee signees selected? Taking a look here.
