After being selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, VFL Chaz Lanier returned to NBA Summer League action this month in Las Vegas with the Detroit Pistons.
Lanier played in all five of the Pistons’ SL games and led the 11 VFLs in the event in minutes per game, points per game, total shot attempts, and total three-point attempts. He was the most productive former Vol on the court in Sin City and proved that with his efficient shooting.
ESPN tagged Lanier as the best second-round sophomore from the event on Monday.
“Lanier, 24, had no intention of laying low in Las Vegas,” Ben Golliver writes. “The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 17.4 points and shot 51.1% from deep in nine attempts per game in his four appearances. In his best effort, Lanier scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter of a runaway win over the New York Knicks.”
In his five games, Lanier averaged 17.4 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.4 rebounds during his Summer League stretch. He shot the ball 47% from the floor and 51% from three-point range.
