On Wednesday evening, Tennessee football got massive news on the recruiting trail. The Vols reeled in the commitment of five-star running back David Gabriel Georges to catapult the class up the rankings and secure a five-star offensive player for the fifth straight cycle.
As you get accustomed to Gabriel Georges sporting the orange and white, you’ll want to make sure you use the correct pronunciation of his name, which is different than you may think. The portion ‘David Gabriel’ is as expected, but ‘Georges’ is pronounced like ‘George’ with the ‘s’ part silent. The nickname ‘DGG’ also works.
Stephen Hargis reported that Gabriel Georges doesn’t mind the incorrect pronunciation with the ‘s’ sound at the end, but his mom might get irked.
Now for an important point. I asked @DavidGG27 the correct pronunciation of his last name and he confirmed the ‘S’ is silent.

According to 247 Composite, Gabriel Georges is considered the No. 10 player in the class, No. 2 running back and the top player from the state of Tennessee. Though initially from Quebec, he currently lives in Chattanooga, where he plays for Baylor School.
Gabriel Georges picked Tennessee over Ohio State and Ole Miss. He took official visits to his three finalists, but for the majority of his recruitment, it was believed to be a two-school race between the Vols and Buckeyes. Many experts even had predictions logged for the Buckeyes to land his commitment, but five insiders flipped to UT just ahead of his announcement.
This is now the 18th commitment in the 2027 recruiting class for Tennessee. The class jumped up to No. 24 in the country and No. 10 in the SEC on 247 after adding the five-star’s pledge.
