There’s a new variation of the Adidas Smokey Gray uniforms hitting stores. Alumni Hall has received this new look – a gray background with orange numerals and orange and gray checkerboards on the sleeves.

There’s no indication that Tennessee will actually wear this uniform in 2014. In fact, we’ve heard just the opposite. But it’s a – we’ll say “interesting” – twist on the Smokey Gray theme that was introduced last year. The Vols wore Smokey Gray uniforms twice in 2013 in losses to both Georgia and Vanderbilt at home. Butch Jones hasn’t confirmed if or when the Vols will break them out again in 2014. Jones, has, however, indicated that he plans to use the alternate look at least once a season for the foreseeable future.
This is the last football season that Adidas will remain the official apparel provider for the Vols, with Tennessee set to officially make the switch to Nike in the summer of 2015.
