RTI Pick Six: Week 9

Oklahoma-State

No. 22 West Virginia @ Oklahoma State  (-1) TV: ESPN 3:30 pm Saturday

Daniel: Talk about teams coming off opposite experiences. West Virginia is sky high after a convincing 41-27 win over Baylor last week. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, got drilled 42-9 at TCU. I’m pretty down on Oklahoma State at the moment. The Cowboys really don’t have an impressive win all season and I think their one strong showing in a close loss to FSU in the season opener got them a little bit overhyped. I see a closer game this week since OSU is playing at home, but West Virginia is the hot hand right now. Winner: WVU 31-28

Houston:  Oklahoma State is a trick. Don’t fall for it! This team is extremely mediocre on defense and has zero idea of what to be offensively. They actually have a solid rushing attack, but they are so in love with throwing the ball all over the yard that they take themselves out of big games early. West Virginia is coming off of a huge win against Baylor last weekend in Morgantown, so I think there is a chance that they have a slight letdown in this one and don’t play their best football…But it won’t matter. Clint Trickett will have a big day throwing the football to the nation’s best wide receiver, Kevin White. If you haven’t seen White play, then do yourself a favor and DVR this one. He is a special player.  Winner: WVU 35-20

Reed: The Cowboys are coming off an absolutely embarrassing loss to TCU last week and desperately need to get back on track at home this week against a West Virginia team that is coming off a big upset win over Baylor. This has the makings of a classic letdown game for the Mountaineers, but West Virginia’s offense is the real deal. The numbers say to pick West Virginia, but the Cowboys are due a better performance. They have more talent and are playing at home so I’m reluctantly going with the struggling Cowboys. Winner: OK State 35-31

Mark: Last week West Virginia beat Baylor and West Virginia students set things on fire. Only one of those was unexpected. The Mountaineers are riding high while Oklahoma State is still reeling from a 42-9 destruction at the hands of TCU. To make matters worse, the Cowboys had two players (WR Jhajuan Seales, CB Juwan Offray) arrested last weekend on complaints of public intoxication. Falling asleep in the drive-thru lane of a Whataburger is no way to go through life, son.

I know the Mountaineers are on the road and a little banged up, but I’ll ride with Holgorsen. Couches are advised to leave the Morgantown city limits immediately. Winner: West Virginia 31-28
