It’s not that impressive in itself that No. 2 seed Tennessee knocked off No. 15 Winthrop in the 2006 NCAA tournament. That fact in itself would likely put this game near the bottom of the list. But this is the game that Chris Lofton had “The Shot” in. His fade-away jumper, off a perfect in-bounds pass from Dane Bradshaw, gave Bruce Pearl and the Vols a dramatic tournament victory, their first since 2001, and helped Tennessee avoid an embarrassing 15-2 seed upset in Pearl’s first season.
