Some pregame notes as the Vols get ready to take on Appalachian State on Thursday evening in the season opener.

Scouts in attendance: The San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers all have seats in the press box

Weather update: A light rain came over the stadium about an hour and a half before the game, sending the crowd scurrying to the concourses and some of the players back to the locker room. It doesn’t look to be anything that will stick around, with the forecast still saying there’s a 25% chance of rain this evening and temperatures in the mid-to-low 70s.

Injury update: Tight end Jason Croom is not dressed out for the game. Expect Ethan Wolf’s younger brother, Eli, to get some extra work this evening. Jauan Jennings, as expected is dressed out, but does have a wrap on his right leg.

Lineup notes: These were the starting lineups we saw in warm-ups:

Offense: Drew Richmond, Jashon Robertson, Coleman Thomas, Dylan Wiesman, Brett Kendrick, Josh Smith, Josh Malone, Preston Williams, Joshua Dobbs, Jalen Hurd and Ethan Wolf

Defense: LaTroy Lewis, Derek Barnett, Danny O’Brien, Kendal Vickers, Jalen Reeves-Maybin Darrin Kirkland Jr., Cam Sutton, Malik Foreman, Emmanuel Mosley, Micah Abernathy and Todd Kelly

Eli Wolf was working with the backups at tight end. I did not see Shy Tuttle on the first or second team defensive lines in warm-ups, but he is in uniform and going through drills
