Trey Smith
There’s only one true freshman for the Vols this season who has a legitimate shot at starting without injuries dictating it, and that’s offensive lineman Trey Smith.
Smith is one of the highest-rated players Butch Jones has ever brought in while at Tennessee, and the hype around him is appearing to be real. Smith is already in line to be the Vols’ starter at right guard right now, and he could very well nail down that starting role as fall camp progresses.
If Smith isn’t starting Week 1 for the Vols, it will only be a matter of time. He’ll at least be part of Tennessee’s offensive line rotation, and he has the greatest likelihood of starting among all of Tennessee’s true freshmen.

Shamburger will be the biggest gem & he’ll outplay many that were rated a lot higher than him over the next 3 to 5 years.
