Analysis: Though he’s taking a step back from his expanded role at Florida State, Kelly has had success as a defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator in the past. But there’s still the fear that Kelly could be in a similar situation as former Vol defensive line coach and interim head coach Brady Hoke in that he’s on the decline in his collegiate coaching career. Time will tell, but Kelly also has strong ties to both Florida and Georgia in recruiting.
