Analysis: Sherrer has been a part of some very good staffs at both Alabama and Georgia, but how will he perform as a defensive coordinator at an SEC school? He’s only had experience as a DC at South Alabama, but he did have success there with the Jaguars. He’ll be a co-coordinator with Chris Rumph with the Vols, and Pruitt himself figures to factor in significantly with the defensive play calling as well. But Sherrer will also be coaching Tennessee’s inside linebackers, one of the more important positions on the defense.
