For the third time this season, the Vols are playing an ACC opponent. And they’ll be looking for their third win over an ACC foe this Saturday when they take on Wake Forest.

No. 3 Tennessee (9-1) hosts Wake Forest (6-3) for UT’s second-to-last game of 2018. The Vols are 2-0 on the season against ACC teams, dispatching Georgia Tech and Louisville earlier this year.

The Vols are currently riding a five-game winning streak while Wake Forest enters Saturday’s match-up winning two-straight games. Tennessee has won four-straight contests against the Demon Deacons, and the Vols are 10-2 all-time against Wake Forest. Last year, Tennessee handled Wake Forest with ease on the road, defeating the Demon Deacons 79-60.

Though Wake Forest is an ACC team and seen as a quality name in college basketball, they aren’t having a great start to the 2018-19 season. The Demon Deacons lost to St. Joseph’s by 20 points in their second game of the season, and they lost 93-91 to Houston Baptist in overtime. They also fell by 10 points to Richmond.

Wake Forest has regained some composure the last couple games, defeating Charlotte by 24 points and topping Davidson by four. But Tennessee will be the first ranked team they’ve faced this season. The Demon Deacons are led by Brandon Childress and Jaylen Hoard, who are scoring 16.8 points and 15.6 points per game respectively. As a team, Wake is hitting 38.4 percent of their threes. Childress is the team’s main sharpshooter, connecting on 48.9 percent of his three-point attempts.
