Given the fact that Tennessee started two true freshmen and a redshirt sophomore on the road against a really good front seven, things could’ve gone a lot worse on Saturday. Yes, Guarantano and Maurer were both harassed a few times, and the line gave up four sacks. But when Wanya Morris goes down with injury and K’Rojhn Calbert had to exit for a bit and Darnell Wright had to move out to tackle, it’s hard to knock this group all that much. They were also shorthanded with the absence of Jahmir Johnson.

It wasn’t a good day for the offensive line, but it was far from as bad as it could’ve been.

Tennessee’s offensive line did not have its best day against the Gators. Guarantano and Maurer were pressured on numerous occasions, and they were sacked four times combined. Florida’s defensive front also tallied eight tackles for a loss. The O-line also had too many penalties on the afternoon. It didn’t help that Will Friend and Jim Chaney had to play musical chairs with the group because of injuries to Wanya Morris and K’Rojhn Calbert.

  1. I have been a vol fan since I was 5 or 6 years old and am approaching 70. This MAY be the worst I have ever seen a Tennessee team look.

  2. I totally agree that at some point the players have to make the plays that are there in front of them. If we just make the simple plays and execute when the scoring opportunities were there, we go in to the 4th quarter with a chance to win this game.
