Tennessee hit the practice field once again on Wednesday afternoon as the Volunteers continue to prepare for No. 1 Alabama for their match-up in Tuscaloosa this upcoming Saturday.

During Tuesday’s practice, we saw a new five along the offensive line with Wanya Morris at left tackle, Jahmir Johnson at left guard, Brandon Kennedy at center, Trey Smith at right guard, and Darnell Wright at right tackle. Fast forward to today’s practice, and Smith was back working at left guard and Johnson was working at tackle during drills. Smith has been at left guard all season, while Johnson has practiced and played (when healthy) at multiple spots.

At quarterback, Brian Maurer continues to practice after suffering a concussion against Mississippi State. Maurer continues to work as the first team quarterback, with Jarrett Guarantano and JT Shrout working behind him. The unit worked on red zone throws and all three quarterbacks looked good.

On Wednesday, Pruitt said that Maurer will be a “game-time decision” for Saturday’s game. The freshman has practiced all week with the team, and Pruitt said earlier this week that he thinks Maurer will be “fine” after his concussion on Saturday.

Defensively, Quavaris Crouch continues to work as the first team inside linebacker alongside Daniel Bituli. Crouch will be starting on Saturday due to Henry To’o To’o being suspended for the first half against Alabama after being ejected against Mississippi State for targeting.

Junior defensive lineman LaTrell Bumphus worked on the bike with the strength and conditioning staff alongside freshman Jackson Lampley.

Jeremy Pruitt will meet with the media later this evening for the final time before Saturday’s contest against the Crimson Tide. Tennessee and No. 1 Alabama are scheduled to kick-off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN Saturday night.
