Tennessee found out on Sunday afternoon where they would be playing in a bowl game this postseason. But in typical Tennessee fashion, it wasn’t a straightforward process.
The Vols were reportedly slated to play Louisville in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, but then Tennessee and the SEC discussed a different deal. Instead of Nashville, the Vols ended up in Jacksonville down in Florida.
Tennessee and Indiana were officially announced as the two participants in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on January 2nd. The Vols and Hoosiers haven’t played since 1988 in the Peach Bowl, and that’s the only time the two programs have ever played in football.
After all the hubbub died down, managing editor Nathanael Rutherford hosted an RTI Live Show to discuss the craziness and get opinions from Vol fans about Tennessee’s bowl destination.
Do you like the TaxSlayer Bowl as the Vols’ bowl game rather than the Music City Bowl? What do you make of Indiana as UT’s opponent? How will this affect Tennessee’s recruiting?
We covered all that and more in the live reaction show. If you missed it live, you can catch the full replay here:
