Four-star outside linebacker Dylan Brooks has signed with Tennessee on New Year’s Eve, he tweeted out in conjunction with the Vols tweeting it out as well on Thursday afternoon.

Brooks signed with the Vols earlier this month during the early signing period despite his signing just now being announced.

The 6-foot-5, 250 lbs. pass rusher was Tennessee’s highest-ranked commit and now becomes the highest-ranked player to sign with the program to this point in the recruiting cycle. Brooks signed with UT despite Auburn pushing heavily for his services after he committed to the Vols on April 26. Alabama and LSU were also finalists.

Brooks is the 19th signee in the 2021 class for the Vols and the sixth defensive lineman to sign. He joins four-star defensive tackle Katron Evans, three-star athlete Trinity Bell, junior college pass rusher Byron Young, three-star defensive tackle Isaac Washington and three-star lineman Amari McNeill.

The Roanoke, Alabama native from Handley High School is ranked as the No. 51 overall player in the country, the No. 3 overall weakside defensive end and the second-best player in the Yellowhammer state according to the 247Sports composite rankings. 247 itself ranks him as the No. 116 overall player, the eighth-best weakside defensive end and the sixth-best player from his home-state.

Tennessee’s recruiting class currently ranks 15th nationally. It ranks as the sixth-best class in the SEC behind Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida. The Vols’ class ranks ahead of Ole Miss, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Auburn, Vanderbilt and South Carolina.
