Top Ranked Quarterback Shows Off Tennessee Visit Pictures

The top-ranked quarterback in the class of 2024 has officially wrapped up a visit to Rocky Top this weekend.

Last Wednesday, five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis tweeted out that he would be taking a visit to Tennessee that coming weekend. And on Sunday evening, Davis showed off some of the pictures he took while on campus, including a photo with Tennessee quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle.

Tennessee Recruiting: Nico Iamaleava Set for 7-on-7 Tournament This Weekend in Knoxville

Even though Tennessee did land a verbal commitment from five-star 2023 quarterback Nico Iamaleava in March, the Vols look to be working hard to secure the future beyond him. The answer could be in 2024’s top quarterback.

Davis is ranked as the No. 1 player in the class and the No. 1 quarterback in the class from 247 Sports. In addition, the Charlotte, North Carolina native has already been opening eyes across the country after he was named a selection to the 2021 All-American Bowl.

“Quick, compact release allows him to spray it around the field,” 247 Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins said about Davis in late 2020. “Ball placement a strength early on in his career as he’s accurate more times than not. Uses trajectory to his advantage. Clean footwork. Likes to establish a secure base. Solid pocket presence for his age, but athletic and creative enough to keep plays alive. Can move the chains with his legs. Doesn’t put himself in many risky situations. Peers consider him a leader in the huddle.”

Throughout his recruitment, Davis has already hauled in more than 20 offers according to 247. Davis’ offers include some powerhouse programs as well, such as Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Going back to Davis’ picture, it looks as though quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle is emerging as one of the premier quarterback gurus in the country. Halzle will certainly be putting a considerable amount of stock into Davis’ recruitment, just like he did with Nico Iamaleava.

While speaking with Volquest in an interview in March, Iamaleava spoke about just how critical Halzle was to his own recruitment.

“Coach Halzle, that guy has been my main guy since day one,” Iamaleava said in the interview. “He’s been coming out to see me and we have a great relationship. I think me and coach Halzle’s relationship really helped this decision too.”

In fact, all three of Tennessee’s main offensive coaches were huge for Iamaleava.

“Big!” Iamaleava said when asked how much of an impact Josh Heupel, Joey Halzle, and offensive coordinator Alex Golesh had in his recruitment. “I think just those three offensive minds right there is just big in the decision I make. They’ll be there to support me in anything and I think that’s what you need for a quarterback.”

Halzle, Heupel, and the Tennessee staff also brought in four-star quarterback Tayven Jackson just a few months into their tenure last April.

There’s no question that thanks to Heupel, Halzle, and Golesh, Tennessee has the ear of the best quarterbacks in the nation moving forward.
