With a 9-6 comeback win over Georgia Tech on Sunday night, the Tennessee Volunteers have officially won the 2022 Knoxville Regional.
Tennessee’s win encapsulated the resiliency and toughness that is expected from the nation’s top team in the postseason on Sunday. The Vols had to fight back from a four-run deficit in both Saturday and Sunday’s game, leaving the door open for some heroic efforts from certain Tennessee players throughout the game.
Tennessee relief pitcher Will Mabrey was terrific on the mound against Georgia Tech, not allowing a run in his 3.2 innings pitched, giving Tennessee just enough time to get the offense rolling and find the game-winning runs in the ninth inning.
