Former Vols Showing Out at Titans Offseason Camp

A couple of new reports on Tuesday afternoon show some optimism towards a pair of former Tennessee Volunteers with the Tennessee Titans. The NFL, including the Titans, is currently in the mandatory mini-camp portion of the offseason, which requires all players from a team to show up for a three-day workout period (June 14-16) in order to learn the playbook.

After being selected in the sixth round of this year’s NFL Draft, VFL Theo Jackson looks to be fitting in nicely with the Titans’ secondary. The Tennesseean’s Ben Arthur, who covers the Titans, posted a video of Jackson on the field on Tuesday with a stamp of approval.

In addition, A to Z Sports posted a post-practice interview video with Jackson as the rookie spoke about living life in and adjusting to the NFL.

“I’ve come a long way since the first day,” Jackson said on Tuesday via A to Z. “Just learning the plays. The smaller details are really big in the NFL. So I have come to learn that very quickly.”

Josh Malone, a former Tennessee receiver from 2014 to 2016, is entering his fifth year in the NFL after spending his first two with the Cincinnati Bengals and the last two with the New York Jets. After agreeing to terms with the Tennessee Titans in February, Malone is hoping to make some sort of impact in Nashville.

According to SI.com’s John Glennon on Tuesday, Titans WR coach Rob Moore has been impressed with Malone’s abilities and efforts at practice.

In three years in Knoxville, Malone caught a total of 104 passes averaging 15.5 yards per reception with a total of 14 touchdowns. Malone’s biggest year came during his final season when he hauled in 972 yards and 11 touchdown receptions.

Following the end of mandatory mini-camps on Wednesday, the next time that players will report to their NFL teams will be for an official training camp in mid-July.
