Five-star receiver Carnell Tate is announcing his college commitment Monday, the Chicago native announced on Twitter Saturday.

Tate is making his college commitment on Monday, deciding between Tennessee, Ohio State, Notre Dame and LSU.

Tate ranks as a five-star and the No. 28 player in the country in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. One of the top receivers in the nation, Tate is a Chicago native but plays his prep football at Florida’s IMG Academy.

The Vols have been active pursuing the talented receiver ever since Josh Heupel and his staff took over. Tennessee has been one of Tate’s top teams for some time, hosting the 6-foot-2 receiver on four visits including three in 2022.

Tennessee was viewed as Tate’s leader for some time, but the perception seems to have flipped as of late.

On3 recruiting expert Chad Simmons flipped his prediction from Tennessee to Ohio State for the five-star while 247sports recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong predicts Tate will land in Columbus.

Both Tennessee and Ohio State present receiver friendly offenses while the Buckeyes have consistently put receivers in the NFL under head coach Ryan Day and receiver’s coach Brian Hartline.

Tennessee currently has one receiver committed in its top 10 2023 recruiting class โ€” Lipscomb Academy receiver Nate Spillman.

Tate will announce his college decision at 1 p.m. ET Monday.

He just completed a three-year stint with the Daily Beacon, the last two of which as the Sports Editor. Ryan also spent last three years at Volquest providing strong Tennessee baseball coverage of Tony Vitello's resurgent program. While the bulk of Ryan's responsibilities involved beat coverage and writing, he also recorded podcasts for both the Beacon and Volquest. Did we leave out the part about Ryan interning for the Smokies? Ryan's work ethic, versatility, and strong writing skills are but three of the reasons why Vol Nation will be hearing from Ryan for years to come.
