College Football Week 2 Highlighted Games

Alabama (-20.5) at Texas — Saturday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m. CT

Alabama at Texas is a game between two of the giants of college football historically. Yet even with two of the most storied programs, FanDuel currently has Alabama as a 20.5-point favorite, which may seem like a lot. Well, Alabama is the master at covering gaudy spreads.

Would it be a surprise to see Alabama cover the spread? Absolutely not. With a +860 money line, it may be worth sprinkling a little on Texas just from a pure value perspective. This feels like one of those games in which Texas either challenges to win straight up or Alabama quickly covers the spread. Who knows which it will be, but remember, Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers was the nation’s No. 1 recruit two years ago.

Tennessee (-6.5) at Pittsburgh — Saturday, Sept. 10, 2:30 p.m. CT

Tennessee was 5-8 against the spread last season, and the Vols always seem to have an early season game in which they are overhyped and the spread is not what it should be. The Volunteers are unrated yet are still favored at ranked Pittsburgh. It is a bit of a head-scratcher, to say the least. With a +200 money, one must imagine that Pittsburgh has to be one of the best values in college football’s week 2 betting lineup.

Iowa (-3.5) at Iowa State — Saturday, Sept. 10, 3 p.m. CT

Iowa State did what it was supposed to, winning in a blowout in week 1 over an FCS program. On the other hand, Iowa struggled, winning 7-3 against South Dakota St. Iowa’s defense forced two safeties, basically winning the game by itself. Iowa has a significant problem at quarterback. If the Hawkeyes don’t find some answers soon, they could not only lose in an upset this weekend against their rival in-state opponent but also have a very disappointing season.
