Cowboys vs. Giants Rivalry is Intense

There was a time when the Giants and Cowboys were important teams in the NFC. The two teams won five Super Bowls combined in a 10-year stretch from 1986 to 1997. There were Hall of Fame coaches and players and gritty, edgy clashes between the two rivals in the NFC East. Those were the days.

The Cowboys have won three playoff games this century, and haven’t sniffed a Super Bowl since Bill Clinton was president, but somehow still maintain “America’s Team” status in the eyes of many. Doesn’t matter how popular the Cowboys are, when they face the Giants, the animosity is hyper-fueled.

The Giants are 2-0 behind a mistake-adverse offense and a frenetic defense that blitzes more than 42% of the time in passing situations, the third-highest total in the NFL. The extra man or two will make it tough for Cooper Rush to be Cooper Pass on Monday night. That’s why we like the Giants to stay undefeated. Caesars lists the game as essentially even (Giants -1 at home).

Best Bets for Monday Night Football

We used the Caesars Same Game Parlay builder to create this wager on the MNF Game. The odds on this three-leg parlay are +750.

  • Daniel Jones Total Passing Touchdowns Over 1.5 (+184)
  • Cooper Rush Total Passing Yards Under 202.5 (-117)
  • Cooper Rush Total Passing Completions Under 19.5 (-123)

Jones has been efficient, which is his hallmark, in the first two games for the New York Giants. He has three touchdown passes. It’s true that Dallas has surrendered only 360 yards through the air, but one of those games was against the stunted offense of the Bengals, a team playing like it just met for the first time. The Dallas defensive line has failed to put sustained pressure on the opposing quarterback. The Giants’ offensive line should give Jones plenty of time to pass his way into the end zone.

Let’s not get too excited about Cooper Rush. The Bengals defense he was so effective against last weekend is not exactly intimidating or very good. This is still the Cooper Rush who hasn’t done anything to show he’s anything but a mediocre depth chart notation. Rush has thrown 94 passes in the NFL. I wouldn’t expect Rush to be in a comfy pocket (or even off his backside) enough to do much damage against the Giants’ defense, which is one of the finest in the NFL.
