Well, that’s only true some of the time. The Browns/Bengals rivalry is one of them. The Bengals have been far more successful in the last few years and won the AFC title last season. Yet, Cleveland has won six of the last seven meetings between these two Ohio NFL teams. The last four games have been decided by four points or less.
When the Bengals and Browns meet, it’s like the ghost of Paul Brown is present to keep the contest spirited. Brown founded both of these franchises, and while neither has ever won the Super Bowl, Cincinnati and Cleveland are home to two of the most enthusiastic fan bases in the league.
In eight of the most recent 13 games between the Browns and Bengals, the total points scored have gone over 45. That, and the feverish rivalry, causes us to believe Monday’s Halloween Night game will see more than 45 points.
The Bengals have won four of five, and even in their three losses, they have been outscored by a combined eight points.
